About these terms

Dilly is not on the App Store yet. These terms are for when it opens.

These terms are between you, the parent or guardian who makes the account, and Dilly. When you make an account or use Dilly for your family, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use Dilly.

They work together with our privacy page, which says what Dilly keeps about your child.

Who can use Dilly

A parent or guardian makes the account. You need to be an adult to do that. Your child uses Dilly under your account. Children under 13 can only use Dilly after a parent or guardian says yes.

Dilly is made for children in kindergarten through grade 8.

You are responsible for your account and your password, and for what happens under them. Please keep your password to yourself. Some screens are for grown-ups only, such as plans and the learning report. Dilly checks the phone before they open. That check keeps a child who picked up the phone out, but it is not a lock on the account.

The paid plan

Dilly is free to start. Core is the paid plan. It costs $9.99 a month, or $89.99 a year (about $7.50 a month). You pick monthly or yearly when you buy, and the price is shown to you before you pay. Each plan is for one child. A plan you buy for one child does not cover a brother or sister.

You pay through Stripe, on Stripe's own page. Dilly does not see your card. A monthly plan renews every month at the same price until you cancel. A yearly plan renews once a year at $89.99 unless you cancel. Each renewal is charged to the payment method you used. Your plan starts when Stripe confirms your payment.

Only the person who bought a plan can change or cancel it. If a renewal payment does not go through, Stripe tries again. The plan may keep working for a short while. If the payment still does not go through, the plan ends and your child goes back to Free.

Cancel any time

You can cancel whenever you like, on a monthly or a yearly plan. Open the Parent/Teacher area, pass the phone check, and open the plans page. Tap Cancel plan, or tap Manage plan to use Stripe's customer portal. Stripe's page opens in your phone's browser, and you confirm there.

When you cancel, your plan keeps working until the end of the period you already paid for, the month on a monthly plan or the year on a yearly plan. It does not renew after that. Then your child goes back to Free. Coins, creations and streaks are kept. Skills your child already taught stay open to practice. Teaching that was half done is paused until a plan is active again.

If you delete your child's profile, we also ask Stripe to cancel that child's plan.

If you think you were charged by mistake, email support@hellodilly.com.

The battery

Each companion has a battery. Teaching your companion uses a little of it each time your child taps Send. Missions, the Room, the Shop, building in the Workshop and going over something already taught do not use it.

On Free, the battery is a small amount to try, and it does not recharge. On Core, it goes back to full every week, on Monday at 8 AM in the time zone you saved. Leftover battery does not add up. The plans page in the app shows the current amounts.

When the battery runs out, the companion falls asleep and teaching waits. Everything else in the app keeps working. The battery is part of how the app works. It is not money, and you cannot cash it out.

Using Dilly well

Please use Dilly the way it is meant to be used. That means:

Do not share your login with people outside your family. Do not try to break the app, get around the phone check, or use someone else's account. Do not use Dilly to harm, bother or trick anyone. Do not copy or resell the app or what is in it.

Missions have a few writing steps. Please ask your child not to write private details there, such as a full name, an address or a phone number.

If these rules are broken, we may stop an account. You can also stop using Dilly any time, and delete your child's profile in Settings.

What your child makes

What your child writes, draws and makes in Dilly is theirs and your family's. Nothing your child makes is posted anywhere. The hosting and email companies that run Dilly can reach it only to run Dilly. Dilly does not sell it and does not share it for ads.

Dilly needs your permission to keep what your child makes and to show it back to your child and to the grown-ups on the account. Making an account gives us that permission, and nothing more. We use it only to run Dilly for your family.

If you delete a profile, what your child made is removed from the app. You cannot bring it back from the app.

What Dilly is, and is not

In Dilly, your child teaches a companion by choosing answers. Your companion is a character in the app. Everything it says is written ahead of time by the Dilly team.

There is no AI in Dilly. Everything your child sees was written in advance, and nothing your child types is sent to an AI service.

Dilly is for learning and play. It does not replace a teacher, a tutor, school or time with you. We do not promise any grade, test score or other result. The learning report shows what your child did in the app. It is not a test.

There are no ads in the app.

Changes

Dilly will change over time. We may add, change or remove things in the app. We may also update these terms. The new terms go on this page. If you keep using Dilly after a change, that means you accept it. If you do not accept it, you can stop using Dilly and cancel your plan.

A Safer Way for Kids to Learn AI

At Dilly, we believe kids should learn about AI, not chat directly with it. That's why our app uses carefully designed, age-appropriate lessons instead of open-ended AI chatbots. Every activity teaches children how AI works, when to use it, and how to think critically about its responses, all in a safe, structured environment.

There is no AI in Dilly. Everything your child sees was written in advance, and nothing your child types is sent to an AI service.
